Choosing your floor can be an important decision because of the cost, and the likelihood that you will want it to give you several years of good service.

You will need to consider your main requirements for your new floor, and the budget you set for the job.  When setting your budget, please remember it needs to cover the cost of fitting and ancillaries, not merely the cost of the flooring itself.

The first decision we advise you to make is whether to install hard flooring, such as wood, vinyl, Karndean, laminate etc, or carpets.

Hard flooring can be extremely clean, durable, and forgiving in the rough and tumble of daily life, but it can be relatively expensive.  Carpet offers a luxury, warm and comfortable feel, but is more susceptible to staining and will generally flatten in high traffic areas over time.
